Mercilyne Wamwana, from West Pokot (Kenya), was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2017. She had a mastectomy, completed chemoradiotherapy, and continued with hormonal therapy the following years. Her husband was her main caregiver, but whenever he was not around, she would always try her best to independently take care of herself and complete daily tasks.

 

She would like to encourage newly diagnosed patients that they are never alone, and that faith in themselves and prayer can help them persevere through challenges they did not believe were possible to overcome.
