What Programs & Activities do we Offer?

to prevent and cure cancer through pioneering interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary research, to translate new knowledge into better prevention and treatment, and to provide effective and compassionate clinical care that improves the lives of patients with cancer and their families. ICI is committed to excellence in research, dynamic partnerships between collaborating centers, laboratories and clinics, robust outreach and education throughout sub-Saharan Africa, while engaging in outstanding education and training programs for future cancer scientists and clinicians.

Education and Training

ICI Education and Training for the region-short and long term courses. Over 2000 health care professionals trained across Sub Saharan Africa through ICI since March 2019 to date. These cut across all cadres of Health care professionals.

Clinical Care and Early Detection

Since Jan 2020, over 300 breast and cervical cancers diagnosed at ICI. More than 1,800 pathology diagnoses done through ICI with collaborating counties.

Research

Four IIT studies on Lung Cancer, Multiple Myeloma, Breast, and Cervical Cancer underway. The cervical cancer HPV and screening study is currently supported. HPV DNA COBAS 4800 machine ..

Policy and Advocacy

We are working with Kenya Medical Supplies Agency (KEMSA) to improve cancer drugs access, affordability and availability in Kenyan public government facilities. KEMSA is a government of Kenya mandated agency for procurement and supplies for all drugs to public hospitals in Kenya.

Participating in policy-making as part of technical working groups with the MOH Kenya- Screening policy, Cancer treatment policy, Kenya Cancer Policy, National Cancer Management Guidelines, National Cancer Control Policy ..

Philanthropy and Patient Support

We Provide Patient support: transport, NHIF, food, supportive care, staging, biopsies for the poor patients who cannot afford in order to optimize their care
